The introduction of the smart visa in Thailand will target specialist workers to come invest and work in certain industries in Thailand. The government will distribute about 1000 of the smart visas, adding that they should not disrupt the “local labor market”.
There are 10 industries to be targeted, divided between the First S-Curve and New S-Curve next generation industries. These include; automotive, smart electronics, agriculture, biotechnology, medical and wellness tourism, medical hubs, biochemicals, digital businesses, robotics and aviation.
There are ten targeted industries that the new smart visa will be appointed to. These industries are divided evenly between First S-Curve and New S-Curve. These specialists will acquire a four year visa from the standard 90 day visa. Spouses and children of successful applicants will be able to obtain working visas as well.

The smart visa will be divided into four main groups; the first and fourth are specialists and company executives that have a base salary of 200k baht and about 10 years of experience, the second and third being investors in the targeted industries. There will be a 20 million baht minimum investment.
