The Myanmar government has defended their actions of bulldozing Rohingya villages saying they are clearing the land as part of future plans to “rebuild the villages to a higher standard”. However, they have yet to allow UN experts visas into the country or Rakhine state to initiate a fact finding mission.
The Human Rights Watch have requested the government to halt clearing the lands until UN experts can examine for human rights violations. The government has responded that their own investigative services have shown that there is no evidence of human rights violations.

Among the 362 villages that are being wiped out, most are partially destroyed due to security forces attacks and at least two are still intact. The clearing of the villages has been condemned by Human Rights Groups as “destroying evidence and obstruction of justice”.
