It’s no longer only Thailand’s major tourism destinations experiencing massive Airbnb growth.
In 2018, figures reveal that the number of listings and renters using Airbnb in Thailand’s lesser-known tourism hotspots is growing at a massive rate.
More specifically, Airbnb listings in off-the-beaten-track destinations in Thailand grew by a staggering 53%.
Home sharers, guesthouses, and boutique hotel listings grew most Nakhon Sawan (167%), Trang (84%), Hat Yai (65%), Ayutthaya (66%), and Chumphon (61%).

As for tourists using Airbnb, the largest growth came in overshadowed tourism spots such as Rawai (92%), Chiang Rai (90%), Hat Yai (214%), and Saladan (71%).
In total, 12 million tourists used Airbnb in lesser-known tourist destinations in Thailand in 2018, a 70% increase from the previous year.
